Job summary

Enablis in Leeds is seeking a hands-on AI Engineering Consultant to work with our CTO and engineering leadership, contributing to our internal AI platform and building AI solutions for client projects.

You will design and ship AI-powered features, from RAG pipelines to LLM integrations, while staying pragmatic and focused on delivery. This is a builders’ role in a consultancy transforming around AI.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering foundations (clean code, testing, CI/CD)
• Hands-on experience with LLMs (API integrations, prompt engineering, agent workflows)
• Proficiency in 2+ modern programming languages
• Awareness of evolving AI tooling (MCP, A2A, or similar)
• Some consultancy or client-facing experience or interest
• Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, fine-tuning
• Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
• Open-source contributions or visible AI side projects
• Experience shipping AI-powered features to production

Responsibilities

At Enablis, we deliver complex, high-impact technology transformation. We're now building a genuinely AI-native consultancy, not just experimenting, but embedding AI into how we deliver, how we operate, and how we grow.

We already have a live internal AI platform in development and a growing client pipeline. This hire will play a key part in taking that capability forward.

The Role

This is a hands-on AI Engineering role at Consultant level. You'll work alongside our CTO and engineering leadership, contributing to our internal AI platform and helping build AI solutions for client projects.

What You'll Be Doing

• Contributing to the development of our internal AI platform
• Building AI-powered client solutions: RAG pipelines, agent architectures, LLM integrations, protocol-driven tooling
• Helping design internal AI tooling to accelerate delivery
• Supporting our upskilling programme with technical AI knowledge-sharing
• Keeping across emerging AI tools, frameworks and protocols
• Helping drive pragmatic AI adoption across engineering teams

What We're Looking For

• Strong software engineering foundations (clean code, testing, CI/CD, production mindset)
• Hands-on experience with LLMs - this can come from personal projects, not just professional work (API integrations, prompt engineering, agent workflows, RAG systems)
• Proficiency in 2+ modern programming languages
• Awareness of evolving AI tooling (MCP, A2A, or similar)
• Some consultancy or client-facing experience, or a strong interest in moving into it
• Vector databases, embeddings, fine-tuning
