Job summary

Durlston Partners LLP is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its London AI Engineering team. You will design, build, and harden AI systems used across the firm, taking ideas from conception to enterprise-scale deployment.

This senior, hands-on role offers ownership of major deliverables, promotion of engineering best practices, and collaboration with product owners and business stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong cloud-native experience with AWS and containerized microservices.
• Experience building AI-enabled or agentic systems in production.
• Familiarity with modern AI engineering patterns such as orchestration, RAG, evals, monitoring and guardrails.
• Strong system design skills, and experience building APIs, data models and service interfaces.
• The ability to explain complex AI concepts clearly to technical and business audiences.
• ABS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy production-grade AI agents and intelligent systems on cloud-native architecture.
• Own significant areas of delivery across the software lifecycle.
• Contribute to shared AI capabilities: agent orchestration, tool use, retrieval-based systems, evaluation, observability and guardrails.
• Work directly with product owners and business stakeholders to turn ambiguous problems into measurable outcomes.
• Champion strong engineering practices through code and design reviews, automated testing and CI/CD.
• Mentor and support less experienced engineers.

Therole
