Job summary

RELX seeks a Solution Architect to lead the design of Elsevier's data platform, focusing on Snowflake-based data warehouses, real-time ingestion and AI-enabled capabilities. You will collaborate with engineering, data, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable data services that enable strategic outcomes.

You will work within the TIO Architecture Team to evolve the platform and drive API-led integration, governance, and best-practice adoption across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in software development, solution architecture or data-platform architecture.
• Strong experience designing Snowflake data warehouse solutions across the Snowflake ecosystem.
• Understanding of operational technology data, assets, dependencies and end-to-end flows in a large enterprise.
• Solution architecture across Snowflake, DBT and SqlDBM, including data modelling and schema design.
• AWS architecture including EC2, RDS, databases, SQS, Kinesis, S3 and Lambda; Azure familiarity.
• Experience with real-time ingestion, streaming, API design, graph databases and MCP AI-enabled solutions.
• Familiar with Tableau, GitHub, Jira, CI/CD and Agile delivery.
• Strong knowledge of governance, requirements gathering and end-to-end data-flow design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of Snowflake-based data warehouse solutions and dependent systems.
• Develop real-time ingestion, AI-driven insights and API-led integration capabilities.
• Design data structures and interfaces for natural-language querying and GenAI use cases.
• Support modern data-engineering methods and best-in-class tooling adoption.
• Integrate data toolchains with internal systems using API-driven approaches, including MCP.
• Establish secure, standardized best practices across data warehousing, integration and AI tooling.
• Define inter-system data flows, roadmaps and governance standards.
• Ensure solutions comply with RELX/Elsevier policies and standards.
• Troubleshoot complex system issues with cross-functional teams.
• Drive technical direction and architecture evolution via reviews and on-floor leadership.
