Job summary

Proton.ai is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own and grow the Data Layer—the unified foundation powering every Proton product and AI brain. You will manage end-to-end ingestion, medallion modeling (raw → refined → curated), and the serving layer that the company depends on.

You will work with Claude Code and other agentic tools to build and ship data pipelines with AI leverage, validate outputs, and ensure data correctness across ingestion, modeling, and reconciliation.

Qualifications

• Strong programming and SQL skills for building efficient pipelines and queries.
• Hands-on orchestration of ingestion/ELT pipelines against messy upstream sources.
• Solid grasp of data-consistency failure modes, idempotency, backfills, and schema drift.
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse and major cloud platform.

Responsibilities

• Own Data Layer end to end: ingestion from file, event, and API sources, medallion modeling, and serving layers.
• Build and operate ingestion and transformation pipelines using a modern orchestration framework.
• Ingest, reconcile, and model data across medallion layers for trustworthy, queryable data.
• Collaborate with backend, AI, and product engineers to define data contracts.
