Job summary

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position at the University of Southampton, based at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton.

The successful applicant will join the UKRI NERC funded FAST and Artificially intelligent Climate projection Tool (FACT) project, developing an AI-enhanced Reduced Order Earth System Model to produce observationally constrained climate projections at a fraction of current computational cost.

Responsibilities

• Develop a new modelling framework combining Reduced Order Earth System Model with AI
• Advance latitudinal climate projections and run very-large ensembles
• Apply Bayesian statistical methods to observationally constrained simulations
• Collaborate with the School of Ocean and Earth Sciences, the Schools of Mathematical Sciences and Electronic and Computer Sciences, and external partners
