Job summary

IQVIA Discovery Sciences in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Scientist to join the Analytical and Purification Sciences team. You will analyse and purify small molecules to advance drug discovery programmes for clients, delivering high-quality data and solutions.

The role combines hands-on analytical work with innovation, AI/automation integration, and mentoring of junior colleagues, within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in achiral and chiral automated purification.
• Strong practical expertise in UPLC/HPLC, SFC, NMR and MS.
• Experience in method development and chromatographic optimisation.
• Experience applying AI/ML in analytic workflows or automation.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance of analytical instruments.
• Familiarity with MassLynx, ChemStation, Chromscope or Trilution is advantageous.
• Track record of adopting new technologies to improve performance.
• Experience scaling methods from analytical to preparative chromatography.
• Mentoring and developing junior scientists.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality analytical and purification data to support progression of compounds across projects.
• Develop and optimise chromatographic methodologies for complex molecules.
• Apply expertise across UPLC/HPLC, SFC, MS and/or NMR to solve analytical problems.
• Contribute to innovation in workflows, including plate-based methods and NMR.
• Drive AI, ML and automation integration within laboratory workflows.
• Leverage data science to improve predictive capability, throughput and decisions.
• Help evolve departmental capabilities and future direction.
• Mentor and supervise junior colleagues in the lab.
• Hands-on role in instrument troubleshooting, maintenance and optimisation.
