Job summary

Wynnstay Group PLC is seeking an Agricultural Trader to lead and support the animal health proposition across a defined region. You will work with store teams, direct sales, and key account managers to increase revenue, provide on-farm technical services, and uphold compliance and best practices.

You will own the regional animal health strategy, contribute to demand forecasting, and help drive growth during Wynnstay's expansion.

Qualifications

  • RAMA qualification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Retain and maximise sales of agricultural products through store initiatives with field sales specialists.
  • Generate leads to maximise store opportunities via telephone sales and campaigns.
  • Act as the regional contact for Retail Agricultural products at store and customer levels.
  • Identify growth areas and implement sales strategies with stores, markets and managers.
  • Utilise marketing and CRM to increase customer activity and collect data.
  • Attend training programmes to deepen product knowledge.
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service and advice.
  • Generate local store leads to support business growth.
  • Cover other local stores when required.
  • Oversee stock replenishment and store duties to service customers.
  • Spot opportunities for development within stores and customer bases.

The Agricultural Trader is responsible for leading and supporting the development of Wynnstay's animal health proposition across a defined region. This is a technical-commercial role focused on increasing revenue and margin across the full range of animal health and welfare products, while building confidence and capability within the sales network. This individual will act as a regional expert and strategic partner - supporting store teams, direct sales colleagues, and key account managers with tailored advice, staff training, campaign delivery, and on-farm technical services. The role includes ownership of the regional animal health strategy, close input into demand forecasting, and ensuring high standards of compliance and best practice on farm. Responsibilities
  • To retain, increase and maximise sales of agricultural products through various selling initiatives. Working closely with field sales specialists to deliver first class advice to the customer and gain local coverage.
  • Generate and build leads to maximise opportunities for store, capitalising and promoting available products. By means of telephones sales activities and seasonal sales campaigns.
  • Act as a key point of contact within your given territory for support and advice on Retail Agricultural products at both Store and customer level.
  • Identify potential growth areas in the agriculture sector and implement sales strategies to enhance growth by liaising with other sites, including local markets, and key people including Store Managers, Product Specialists, Marketing Team, Purchasing Team, Development Managers and Regional Business Managers.
  • In conjunction with your manager, to utilise the marketing and CRM function, to increase sales activities at customer level, and to assist with the ongoing data collection and analysing of product sales by customer.
  • To continuously develop your knowledge on agricultural products by attending relevant training programmes; online, events, in store or as required.
  • Provide quality service to customers along with advice where qualified, in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner and in line with customer care polices.
  • Be able to generate leads for the store, capitalising on new and existing opportunities through knowledge and experience to better serve and promote the business within the local and surrounding communities.
  • To be flexible in providing cover at other local Stores where required.
  • Responsible for replenishment of agricultural stock within the store, including the ability to carry out store duties to support the delivery of service to customers.
  • Identify opportunities for development within the store and local customer base.
Essential

What we’re looking for:

  • Have a general agricultural understanding and a passion to learn and strengthen knowledge
  • Be able to communicate to a good standard, can deal with enquiries in person and over the telephone appropriately, efficiently, courteously, promptly and discreetly, recognising the different needs of your customers
  • Be RAMA qualified or willing to work towards obtaining the qualification
Desirable
  • SQP qualified (AMTRA or equivalent), or relevant veterinary or agricultural qualification.
  • Background in working with cross-functional teams - particularly in procurement, technical or product roles.
  • Understanding of current regulatory environment for animal medicines and treatments.
  • Familiarity with youngstock nutrition, trace element supplementation, parasite control planning, or hygiene protocols.
