Job description

Are you passionate about agriculture, horticulture, and innovation? Join the University of Lincoln’s Lincoln Institute for Agri-Food Technology (LIAT) and help support cutting-edge research that is shaping the future of sustainable food production and farming.

We are seeking a practical, enthusiastic and proactive Agricultural Technician to provide specialist technical and horticultural support across a range of research, teaching and innovation activities. The role will be based primarily at our Riseholme Campus, home to a working farm and specialist research facilities, including our expanding geothermal Glasshouse Research & Development Facility.

Working closely with academics, researchers and students, you will support the establishment and maintenance of crop trials and experiments, undertake crop and soil sampling, maintain irrigation systems and environmental monitoring equipment, and assist with data collection and record keeping. You will also contribute to the day-to-day operation of the glasshouse, ensuring crops and research environments are maintained to a high standard.

We are looking for someone with excellent practical and technical skills, strong communication abilities, good IT skills, and a methodical approach to work. Knowledge of agriculture and/or countryside management is essential, while experience in agricultural, horticultural, or research environments would be advantageous. Relevant qualifications, PA1/PA6 spraying certificates, and experience operating agricultural machinery are desirable but not essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-leading agri-tech institute, working on innovative projects that bring together technology, sustainability, and agriculture to deliver real-world impact.
