Job summary

St Gerard's Catholic Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic After School Club Assistant to supervise pupils from Reception to Year 6 in a safe, nurturing environment after the school day. You will help set up activities, prepare snacks, monitor safety and hygiene, and support staff in delivering engaging, age-appropriate games.

The role includes safeguarding responsibilities, recording accidents, and attending training as required, with opportunities to contribute to a positive after-school

Responsibilities

• Set up and clear away the After School Club resource with health and safety in mind.
• Prepare a snack and drinks and supervise children while eating.
• Cater for the needs of children attending After School Club and monitor to prevent distress or upset.
• Provide support and supervise games and activities; engage with children to create a happy, stimulating environment.
• Assist with health and safety compliance and food preparation regulations.
• Undertake safeguarding training and report concerns to the safeguarding lead.
• Ensure accidents are recorded in the accident book with treatment details and witnesses.
• Monitor the resource for the After School Club and advise on repairs or renewals required.
• This role may include other duties within the school and Trust as needed.

Main purpose of the Role

To work as part of the After School Club Team, providing supervision, high-quality care and a safe and stimulating environment for pupils from Reception to Year 6 after school

Key Duties & Responsibilities

To set up and clear away the After School Club resource paying full regard to Health and Safety, leaving room clear and clean for other purposes.

To prepare a snack and drinks for the children and supervise them eating.

To cater for the needs of the children attending After School Club; including monitoring to ensure that no child is distressed or a cause of concern or upset to others.

To provide support and to assist with supervision of appropriate games and activities, and to be proactive in engaging with our children to create a happy, stimulating environment.

To assist with the compliance of all Health and Safety, and food preparation regulations.

To undertake safeguarding training and follow best practice in reporting any concerns about a child to the relevant safeguarding lead.

Ensure that all accidents are recorded in the accident book with details of treatment and witness signatures.

To monitor the resource for the After School Club and to advise of any repairs or renewals required.
