Job summary

SolidCor, a fast-growing UK fire door manufacturer, is seeking an Production Shift Manager for the Chesterfield factory. You will lead the afternoon shift, oversee output, quality, people and safety, and be hands-on on the floor to uphold high standards.

You’ll drive daily targets, maintain real-time flow, and implement continuous improvements while mentoring the team and coordinating handovers with the Plant Director.

Qualifications

• Experience in a shift management or supervisory role within manufacturing/production.
• Strong leadership to motivate and direct a production team on a fast-paced shift.
• Understanding of production processes, quality control, and health & safety in a factory environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the afternoon shift production team — setting daily targets and ensuring output and quality.
• Maintain a visible hands-on presence on the factory floor, supporting operators and keeping production moving.
• Monitor real-time output and address bottlenecks or quality issues promptly.
• Ensure all products meet quality and compliance standards, carrying out checks and escalating non-conformances.
• Own H&S on the shift — conduct toolbox talks and report incidents promptly.
• Lead shift handovers with clear communication about output, issues, and priorities.
• Support onboarding and development of team members and feeding back to the Plant Director.
• Complete shift reports and documentation accurately and on time.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives with the wider management team.
