Description

SolidCor is on a mission to make volume fire door replacement possible within days — enabling the industry to rapidly achieve compliance and community safety in every building. Born out of the urgent need for change following the Grenfell disaster, we have built the fastest production times in the industry and the widest range of primary-tested fire door configurations. We are growing fast and we are looking for A-players to help us get there.

We are passionate about getting things right and obsessed with quality. Our products are safety-critical — when a fire door fails, the consequences are real. Every doorset that leaves our Chesterfield factory has to be right, and the people who make them are at the heart of that.

We are looking for a skilled Fire Door Assembly Operative (Bench Joiner) – Afters Shift to join our production team in Chesterfield, manufacturing high-quality fire doorsets to specification. You will work as part of a close-knit factory team, taking pride in the accuracy and quality of everything you make — knowing that what you build directly contributes to the safety of residents across the country.

If you are a skilled, reliable operative who takes pride in your craft, is comfortable working the afters shift, and wants to be part of a business genuinely committed to making buildings safer — read on.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and manufacture fire doorsets and door components to specification, working from drawings, cut lists, and production instructions.
  • Operate bench and workshop machinery accurately and safely, including saws, routers, planers, and associated tooling.
  • Carry out fitting, assembly, and finishing of door components to the required quality standard.
  • Work to production targets and daily schedules, maintaining pace and accuracy throughout your shift.
  • Carry out quality checks on your own work at each stage of production, identifying and reporting defects or non-conformances immediately.
  • Maintain your workstation, tooling, and machinery in a clean, safe, and organised condition at all times.
  • Follow all H&S procedures, COSHH requirements, and safe working practices on the factory floor.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider production team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive, high-performance factory culture.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • An A-player mindset — high standards, extreme ownership and the drive to do things properly, the first time.
  • Proven experience as a bench joiner or in a similar timber/joinery manufacturing role.
  • Confident and accurate operating workshop machinery including bench saws, routers, and planers.
  • Strong attention to detail — consistently accurate in measuring, cutting, and assembly work.
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings, cut lists, and production specifications.
  • A reliable, consistent worker who takes pride in the quality of their output.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements in a workshop or factory environment.
  • Experience in fire door or door set manufacturing (preferable).
  • Comfortable working the afters shift on a full-time basis.
  • Relevant joinery or woodworking qualification (preferable).
