Job Description:

Aftermarket Development Engineer

Duration: 12 Months

Location: Peterborough, UK

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Plan and deliver Aftertreatment system/component development projects to meet time, cost, and quality goals.
• Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).
• Utilize troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques (8D); anticipate, detect, and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
• Plan and improve testing procedures and operations for reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Monitor results, machine and process capabilities, and performance reliability.
• Communicate project status and key issues to peers, stakeholders, and management.
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop specifications and deliver quality solutions through APQP.
• Write and review technical information and reports for production design release.
• Work with global teams to implement engineering solutions worldwide.
• Reflect on lessons learned, using Lean methodology to identify improvement opportunities.

Skills and Experience:

Candidates should have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 6-8 years of engineering or relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, engine components, and systems development.
• Knowledge of manufacturing principles and processes.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage and deliver complex projects.
• Effective communication skills and teamwork with internal teams and suppliers.
• Experience in diesel engine development and new product introduction; basic awareness of aftertreatment systems.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting technical problems following standard procedures.
• Experience leading or participating in APQP, FMEA, and DVP&R processes.
• Strong analytical skills, with experience in simulation, rig testing, and system testing.
