Job description

Required from 2 November for 12.5 hours per week, 3.00pm-5.30pm term time only.

Ebchester CE Primary School requires a happy, enthusiastic and motivated After School Club Leader. At Ebchester CE Primary School we run a successful after school club that is housed on site and benefits from our school facilities. We are looking for someone who is passionate about all aspects of childcare and education, and is able to bring new ideas and assist in running an After School Club for pupils between the ages of 3 and 11.

The successful candidate will supervise children attending the club and provide appropriate activities whilst securing their safety, monitoring well-being and ensuring good behaviour.

Key duties and responsibilities:
  • To maintain a safe and stimulating play environment and to assist with the developing opportunities which encourage children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development through play.
  • To ensure the provision offers a safe and stimulating play environment.
  • To assist with the planning preparing and delivery of activities, which meet children’s individual and developmental needs.
  • To work face to face with the children registered with the club
  • To supervise tea time refreshments for the children.
  • To follow guidelines and procedures for safeguarding in accordance with Seal Primary Schools’ polices and procedures.
  • To carry out any other duties, which will be seen to enhance the work of the After School Club.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and, if successful, you will need to apply for an enhanced DBS disclosure.

As a disability confident employer, we are committed to employing disabled people and people with health conditions making reasonable adjustments to support disabled applicants when required.

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

  • Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
  • Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
  • Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:

Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service:

38 weeks (term time) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service:

38 weeks (term time) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

An enhanced DBS check is an essential part of the selection and recruitment process. Closing date: 12 noon on Wednesday 21st October 2026.
