Job summary

Newcastle United is seeking a passionate African Scout Analyst to turn video analysis, scouting intelligence and market knowledge into concrete recruitment recommendations. You will help shape the Club’s pipeline of priority targets for future transfer activity across African football.

Based in Newcastle, you will analyse prospects, produce concise reports, travel as needed, and support recruitment decisions with evidence-based evaluations across levels of African football.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in sport, performance analysis, sports science or a related discipline.
• Strong football knowledge, including player profiling and the attributes required at elite level.
• Good understanding of talent identification and recruitment processes.
• Knowledge of African football markets, competitions, academies and player pathways.
• Experience of video scouting and producing evidence-based reports and recommendations.
• Experience using industry-standard platforms such as Wyscout, Hudl, Sportscode or Studio.
• Ability to assess and communicate a player’s potential and development trajectory.
• Strong presentation, video-editing and written communication skills.
• Ability to make clear, substantiated recommendations.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Scout and analyse prospective players across multiple levels of African football, primarily through video.
• Identify players meeting recruitment strategy, playing philosophy and squad requirements.
• Produce concise, evidence-based player reports, recommendations and presentations.
• Assess players’ current ability, potential and development trajectory.
• Research African football markets, competitions, academies and player pathways.
• Use scouting intelligence and data to place talent into recruitment workflow quickly.
• Create and store video clips and telestrated presentations showing player traits.
• Upload reports and presentations to the Club’s digital platforms.
• Conduct detailed evaluations of priority targets ahead of transfer windows.
• Attend live matches and travel domestically or internationally when required.
