Job summary

Cambridge Aerospace is seeking an aerothermal/compressor design engineer to own the aerothermal and thermomechanical aspects of our micro-gas turbine compressor. You will collaborate with systems, combustor and turbine designers, structures, and manufacturing heads to ensure the compressor meets performance targets.

Ideal candidates have MSc in mechanical or aerospace engineering, strong CFD and turbomachinery aerodynamics knowledge, and experience in full design cycles for turbomachinery

Qualifications

• MSc in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong foundation in fluid mechanics and turbomachinery aerodynamics.
• Competent CFD practitioner with design-cycle experience.
• Knowledge of clearances, bleed flows and compressor diffuser effects.
• Experience owning aerothermal and thermomechanical design & analysis.

Responsibilities

• Annulus and blade design (aerothermal) of the compressor
• CFD analysis of design-point performance
• Generation of compressor map
• Aerothermal load transfer for structural analysis
