Job summary

Marshall Group is seeking a Special Processes Fitter to apply surface finishes to aerospace components in accordance with engineering data and OEM quality requirements.

You will work within a focused team to meet schedules, keep records up to date, and uphold safety and environmental standards while contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship or equivalent training in manufacturing or related field.
  • Experience with NADCAP/OEM quality expectations is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and apply detailed engineering drawings and instructions.
  • Commitment to high quality and clear communication.

Responsibilities

  • Operate painting and surface finishing processes per engineering data.
  • Ensure timely delivery and maintain area compliance (5S, HSE).
  • Maintain area housekeeping, track job bookings and productivity.
  • Collaborate with team to drive continuous improvement.

As a Special Processes Fitter at Marshall you’ll apply surface finish to manufactured components and assemblies to engineering data and in accordance with internal and external OEM quality requirements

Accountability

  • Accountable for own work quality to ensure is meets the requirements called up on the engineering data
  • Accountable for the safe, compliant, efficient, timely delivery of manufactured parts through special processes
  • Supports the wider Special Processes team to ensure overall adherence to priorities and targets
  • Help drive productivity and efficiency improvements across team and wider business
  • Engage were possible with Continuous Improvement activities
  • Supports the Senior Technician Special Processes

Responsibilities:

  • Working to a schedule of work to meet on-time delivery and to the required quality requirements.
  • Ensure job bookings and clocking’s are up to date daily
  • Responsible for husbandry of allocated area ensuring that all procedural requirements are met (e.g., area audits)
  • Demonstrated clear understanding of productivity and cost drivers
  • Responsible for own effective management of Safety, Health, and Environmental aspects
  • Understanding of productivity and cost drivers
  • Process the manufacturing activities in accordance with the schedules and priorities within own area
  • Understand the importance of on time delivery of parts and assemblies

Tasks:

  • Painting of Aerospace metallic and composite manufactured parts, including sub-assemblies
  • Application of paints to be applied in accordance with internal & external approvals including NADCAP & OEM requirements.
  • Ensure on time delivery is maintained within your own area
  • Ensure own area is kept compliant i.e., 5’s, H&S etc
  • ensure all work is completed in accordance with the engineering data
  • Effectively manage the progressive clearance of shop order operation of own work
  • Maintain own approvals via department QC

Technical Competencies:

  • High degree of understanding and awareness of Manufacturing software solutions, e.g., IFS,

Education:

  • Apprenticeship, including NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds or equivalent training
  • Significate experience in own field
  • The ability to accurately follow detailed engineering drawings, work instructions and specifications
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the highest standards of quality at work Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills

Experience:

  • Understanding of NADCAP, Boeing and Lockheed Martin engineering requirements would be an advantage, but training will be given to the successful applicant.
  • Preferably worked within an organization that practised continuous improvement.
