Job summary

Manpower UK Ltd is seeking a Stress Engineer to join the Stress & Structural Analysis team at Boscombe Down for a 12-month contract. The role focuses on delivering technical assessments, static strength, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses, and certifiable designs for airframe modifications.

Requirements include aerospace experience, proficiency with FEM tools (FEMAP/NX Nastran, Hyperworks, Abaqus), and a degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. SC clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace products or aircraft modifications.
• Expertise in stress/structural analysis using hand calculations and FEM.
• Experience with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
• Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to document calculations and reports with traceability.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical assessments for flight trials, product development, research activities and other projects.
• Perform static strength, vibration, fatigue & damage tolerance analysis for airframe modifications and installations.
• Use classical hand calculations and FEM to verify designs against regulatory expectations.
• Devise and conduct structural tests (e.g. static strength and modal testing) to demonstrate compliance or validate analyses.
• Produce formal calculations and supporting documentation with clear traceability to source data.
• Support aircraft surveys and tests through Stress Office and AEC processes to certify designs to regulatory specifications.
• Check calculations and drawings, contribute to design reviews, and present findings and recommendations.
• Mentor junior engineers and help improve methods and team processes.
