Job summary

Spire in the United Kingdom is seeking a Quality Control Technician to assure the quality of spacecraft components throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. You will perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections against drawings and standards, and maintain traceable quality records.

The role requires attention to detail, integrity and discipline, with experience in IPC-A-610/J-STD-001, ISO quality systems, and calibration of tools.

Qualifications

• Two years minimum experience in aerospace, defence, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing/inspection.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics and work instructions.
• Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
• Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, ESD/FOD prevention.
• Experience with in-process, floor-based inspection using travellers and work instructions.
• Clear, professional communication with suppliers, engineering and manufacturing teams on technical queries and non-conformances.
• Familiarity with ISO quality systems or other aerospace industry quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming parts and materials.
• Conduct in-process inspections at key manufacturing stages.
• Support resolution of supplier engineering queries (EQs).
• Conduct final inspections of outgoing hardware before shipment.
• Accurately document inspection results and maintain traceable quality records.
• Identify and escalate non-conformances to Quality Engineers.
• Support calibration and maintenance of inspection tools and equipment.
• Assist in tracking calibration schedules in line with company procedures.
