Job summary

GKN Western Approach is seeking a Skilled Painter for the night shift to work at the Western Approach Industrial Paint Facility. The role involves surface preparation, masking, paint application and finishing to stringent quality standards in a world-class manufacturing environment.

Core duties include preparing components, applying coatings, inspecting work and maintaining safety. NVQ Level 2 in Paint Spraying is required, with progression to permanent night shift and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial, aerospace or automotive paint spraying.
• Strong understanding of paint preparation and application processes.
• Ability to work accurately to detailed specifications and quality standards.
• Experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare components for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking and surface treatment.
• Apply coatings using approved paint spraying techniques and processes.
• Work to engineering drawings, specifications and standard operating procedures.
• Carry out quality inspections and ensure work meets required standards.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to all health and safety procedures.
• Support production targets while maintaining a high level of workmanship and attention to detail.
