Job summary

Amphenol Military & Aerospace in Whitstable is seeking a Material Process Engineer to develop, control and improve electroplating and metal finishing processes used in aerospace and defence applications.

You will work with chemical analysts, operators and management to maintain process control, support new product introduction and ensure compliance with quality, environmental and health & safety standards. Opportunity to lead improvements and train team members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or related field.
• Experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of process control and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with PFMEA development, process documentation and quality management practices.
• Understanding of GMP and laboratory processes.
• Health & Safety knowledge including COSHH.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and identify improvements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, maintain and continuously improve electroplating and metal finishing processes.
• Develop PFMEAs, process diagrams, work instructions and documentation.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting across plating operations.
• Investigate issues, returns and non-conformances; implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Monitor chemicals, solutions and materials to maintain process performance.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects through process development and validation.
• Maintain process control limits and quality documentation.
• Drive 5S and other continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support wastewater treatment, environmental compliance and hazardous waste management.
• Coordinate with maintenance to keep plating plant and equipment operational.
• Provide training and mentoring to team members; act as deputy when required.
