Job summary

Onside Advocacy is seeking an Advocacy Services Manager for Herefordshire to lead a team delivering statutory and related advocacy services, including out-of-county work. The role combines frontline leadership with strategic service development in a charity setting.

You will manage Advocates, ensure quality and compliance with legislation, and report to Commissioners and Directors. Hybrid working is considered for the right candidate, with a pro rata salary band of £30,000–£34,000.

Qualifications

• A Level or equivalent with 3+ years in service management.
• Experience in advocacy, health, social care or safeguarding.
• Managing services against contracts, SLAs or KPIs.
• Supervising and developing staff.
• Operational planning, service improvement and change.
• Partnerships across agencies.
• Experience with vulnerable adults and voluntary sector.
• Knowledge of legislation underpinning statutory advocacy (Mental Health Act, MCA, Care Act, PACE).

Responsibilities

• Lead Advocacy team with line management and development.
• Oversee delivery of advocacy services, referrals, workload, and timeliness.
• Monitor performance, data integrity, and provide reports to Commissioners and Directors.
• Ensure advocacy services are delivered safely, ethically, and professionally per legislation.
• Review systems, policies and risks with leadership.
• Ensure staffing/resources meet demand, support volunteers.
• Manage paid-for and spot-purchase advocacy with invoicing.
• Build relationships with Commissioners, partners and stakeholders.
• Support promotional activities to raise awareness and accessibility.
• Undertake other duties as required.
