To practice autonomously with a high level of accountability at a specialist clinical level in the direct delivery of high quality care, making critical clinical decisions based on specialist clinical skills assessment.
Plan and manage complete episodes of care, working in partnership with others and delegating and referring as appropriate to optimise health outcomes and resource use, as well as providing direct support to patients and clients.
To provide clear leadership and direction to support both the medical and nursing teams acting as a role model for the Trust, presenting a positive image to patients and staff.
Advocate and contribute to the development of an organisational culture that supports continuous learning and development, evidence-based practice and succession planning.
Be an active participant in Morbidity and Mortality reviews and in the investigation of incidents with a focus on shared learning and improvement.
Critically engage in research activity, adhering to good research practice guidance, so that evidence-based strategies are developed and applied to enhance quality, safety, productivity and value for money.
Lead on developments within the elective and emergency pathways, championing enhanced recovery and service improvement.
In conjunction with the medical staff, be responsible for co-ordinating the admission, assessment and discharge arrangements for elective and emergency Colorectal patients.
Support any patient speciality on the ward 11 elective pathway in the prescription of medications and basic interventions as required in the absence of the specialist team.
