Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is recruiting a Band 8A Highly Specialist Pharmacist in Older People for a full-time fixed-term role. The post focuses on specialist clinical pharmacy support, medicines optimisation, and leadership across the Trust.

You will influence patient care, support service development, supervise pharmacy staff, and contribute to audits, research and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council and eligible for the Independent Prescriber role.
• Post-qualification hospital pharmacy experience, including Older People.
• Ability to lead, supervise and mentor staff and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead pharmacist in delivering and evaluating high-quality clinical pharmacy services for Older People.
• Provide expert pharmaceutical advice, manage risk, and ensure medicines compliance.
• Participate in clinical audits and practice research.
• Train Pre-reg pharmacists and junior staff.
• Prescribe independently as a pharmacist prescriber and train others in deprescribing tools.
