Job description

The Satellite Communications team, based in Tewkesbury, is at the forefront of advancing the Aircraft Connectivity market. This established team focuses primarily on Satellite Communications, designing and developing modems and antennas for the aeronautical sector, in collaboration with our partner sites in Europe and Canada. Additionally, we are extending our expertise towards modems for the emerging UAV/UAM industry and engaging in active projects with the European Space Agency.

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced RF Design Engineer to join our dynamic team of leading experts. This role serves as an exciting opportunity for candidates with experience in RF design for satellite communications or cellular modems to contribute to ground-breaking technologies in a multinational aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop RF systems for Satellite Communication, primarily within the L-band frequency range, with experience in K-band being a plus.

• Execute High Power Amplifier (HPA) and Power Supply Unit (PSU) design and optimization, focusing on efficiency and performance trade-offs.

• Apply a broad skill set to support the team, including schematic design and layout experience with Mentor or similar CAD tools.

• Conduct RF simulations utilizing Microwave Office, Ansys HSFF, or equivalent software.

• Collaborate with component suppliers, ensuring parts specifications meet design objectives.

• Review and ensure compliance with industry standards and documentation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience in RF design for both active and passive components.

• Proficient in RF testing methodologies, with hands-on experience using equipment such as vector network analyzers.

• Excellent communication skills, with a proficient command of MS Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

• Exhibit proactive and innovative thinking with a strong aptitude for problem-solving, effectively presenting findings and solutions.
