Job summary

Turning Point is recruiting an Advanced Practitioner to join our North East Lincolnshire service. You will oversee a small team of Recovery Workers, provide expert guidance, and lead on complex cases with a focus on harm reduction and safeguarding.

The role involves MDT participation, outreach support, and deputy responsibilities for the Team Leader when needed. We offer a starting salary of £29,244 with progression up to £33,880, with structured learning and clear career pathways to develop

Qualifications

• Exceptional report writing and case notes.
• Demonstrable experience in working within a substance use treatment and recovery setting.
• Specialist depth knowledge of one or more complexities alongside substance use (e.g., mental health, homelessness, violence).
• Understanding of risk and risk management in relation to substance use and complexity.
• Significant experience of working in health and social care.
• Desirable qualifications include RMN, Social Work, psychology, Youth Work or other relevant qualification.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of no more than 2 Recovery Workers; provide one-to-one support and develop practice.
• Support a team of Recovery Workers during outreach; ensure safety and adhere to Lone Working policy.
• Complete a generic monthly audit of a Recovery Worker case and discuss outcomes in supervision.
• Handle case management for people with higher levels of complexity; adjust as needed.
• Prioritise Harm Reduction in case work and record in the case management system.
• Oversee issues related to the people we support when Recovery Workers are on leave.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with partner agencies and act as first point of contact.
• Participate in weekly MDTs to support Recovery Workers and guide treatment plans.
• Deputise for the Team Leader in their absence and chair MDT meetings when needed.
• Engage in training to develop and maintain leadership skills.
• Chair multi-agency meetings in the absence of the Team Leader; safeguard guidance as needed.

Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting for various Advanced Practitioners join our opiate and alcohol teams in our new North East Lincolnshire service. For this role you will have either significant experience in providing a substance use services or a related field in health, social care or criminal justice services and/or a relevant qualification such as social work or nursing. You will hold a defined caseload of service users with multiple needs and have, or be willing to develop, a specialism within the team. You will provide learning opportunities and act as a point of expertise within your team, sometimes leading multi-disciplinary discussions to support planning, and be capable of representing the service in external meetings to improve pathways with partner agencies. Whilst not a line management position Advanced Practitioners will form part of the leadership of the team and be key to supporting specific clients with complex needs and workers, particularly those new to the field.

As an Advanced Practitioner we offer a starting salary of £29,244 with annual pay progression up to £33,880 (Dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial starting salary).

Main responsibilities

• Supervision of no more than 2 Recovery Workers. The post holder will provide one to one support with Recovery Workers, helping them to develop their practice and supporting them with day-to-day challenges of the role.


• The post holder will provide support to a team of Recovery Workers when working outreach, ensuring they are working safely and following the Lone Working policy.


• The post holder will complete a generic audit of a Recovery Worker case every month and discuss the outcomes in supervisions. Highlighting both good practice and areas for development.


• The post holder will be responsible for case management of people with higher levels of complexity. This number may vary depending upon need and other responsibilities.


• The post holder will prioritise Harm Reduction in their case work (inc carrying NSP provisions when working outreach and recording on NEO) and evidence this in their recording on the case management system.


• The post holder will take responsibility for the oversight of any issues relating to the people we support whilst Recovery Workers are on leave, providing strong continuous care.


• The post holder will take responsibility for building and maintaining positive relationships with partnering agencies, being the first point of contact for any difficulties.


• The post holder will participate in weekly MDTs to support other Recovery Workers and take guidance on treatment plans for service users.


• The post holder will deputise for the Team Leader in their absence e.g., annual leave or conflicting commitments.


• The post holder will engage in training and development opportunities as the arise in order to develop and maintain their leadership skills.


• The post holder will chair MDT in the absence of the Team Leader and chair multi agency meetings when necessary.


• Safeguarding: - The post holder will support and provide guidance for safeguarding concerns supporting practice development alongside the safeguarding lead raised by Recovery Workers.

The Ideal Candidate

The post holder will complete standard Advanced Practitioner responsibilities including support of peers when working outreach, in partnering locations and in the hub.

Essential

• Demonstrable experience in working within a substance use treatment and recovery setting


• Specialist interest depth knowledge of one or more complexities alongside substance use. This may be mental health, long term conditions, criminality, homelessness, Domestic Violence, Young People, etc


• Understanding of risk and risk management, as it applies to substance use and complexity.


• Significant experience of working in health and social care

Desirable

• RMN; Social Work, psychology, Youth Work (YP role only) or other relevant qualification
