Band 7 Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist – (base negotiable within Argyll and Bute HSCP) Children’s Services (Argyll and Bute)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist to join the Children’s Occupational Therapy Service based in Lochgilphead, Argyll and Bute, covering Mid Argyll, Kintyre, and Islay.

The Advanced Practitioner will play a key role within the service, providing advanced clinical expertise alongside leadership in professional practice.

This post works in close collaboration with the Team Leader, who retains overall operational oversight of the service.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering highly specialist assessment and intervention for children and young people.

In addition, you will provide professional guidance, supervision, and support to members of the Children’s Occupational Therapy team. As an Advanced Practitioner, you will contribute to service development, support the implementation of best practice, and help maintain high standards of clinical care across the team.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, confident, and motivated individual with the experience and skills to influence service delivery within a dynamic and evolving multi-agency environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues across health, education, and social care in a unique rural setting, supporting children, young people, and their families across Mid Argyll, Kintyre, and Islay.

Applicants must hold current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and demonstrate a minimum of five years’ relevant post-qualification experience. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a busy multidisciplinary team.

The role will involve traveling across Mid Argyll, Kintyre, and Islay, as well as wider areas of Argyll and Bute where required.

The ability to travel efficiently is therefore essential to meet service delivery requirements.

In return, we offer regular supervision, access to training and development opportunities, and the chance to work within a supportive and collaborative team environment across Argyll and Bute.

This post requires PVG Scheme membership for working with children. A full UK driving licence, and the ability to travel across the locality, is essential due to the rural nature of the service.
