About the role

We are recruiting an Advanced Occupational Therapy Practitioner based at Astley Ainsley Hospital, Edinburgh, as part of East Lothian Rehabilitation Service. The role requires autonomous decision‑making and clinical judgment to manage highly complex patient conditions, including assessment, treatment, review planning, and partnering with patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnosis and management of complex patient conditions in vocational rehabilitation.
• Provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, agencies, carers, clients, and relatives.
• Act as expert clinician, educator, and leader within the team.
• Lead and develop the service team to improve practice and work collaboratively.
• Implement and evaluate evidence‑based standards, guidelines, and policies.
• Lead quality improvement and research activities contributing to service development.

Requirements

• Must hold a PVG Scheme membership/record for the relevant regulatory group (child and/or adult).
• If not a current PVG member, a successful application will require disclosure to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before commencing the role.
