We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough.
We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!
In this role, you will put young people at the heart of everything you do. You will be working with young people aged 16–25 who are care experienced. An Advanced Practitioner is a critical role within the team as they offer mentoring, coaching and practice expertise to less experienced team members. The role has acknowledged depth of expertise, including the assessment and appropriate risk management.
As an Advanced Practitioner for the team we would like you to have the expertise to support staff in their roles. This role will help deliver and lead good quality young person/adult centred practice across the service. You will demonstrate effective leadership and work alongside Team Managers to ensure that the service meets all statutory requirements and standards. You will be flexible to the needs of the young people you support.
Wigan Council has been voted “Overall Council of the Year” at the APSE Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous between the supporting organisations.
The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It recognises that together we can achieve more for our communities by delivering on our two place missions: create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work here.
Our environment is one where regular training and development takes place. Managers promote reflective work; and a team of enthusiastic workers, committed to providing the best possible services to young people. We are based at The Care Leavers Hub, which offers direct support to young people and facilitates a multi-agency environment.
We support flexible working patterns where the service can accommodate this. We also take a blended approach to where we work, depending on the work we do. This may include working from home, the office, or the community. We offer a range of exclusive rewards and benefits for our employees.
To be appointed to this role you must be able to prove your right to work in the UK. The employer is not a licensed sponsor at present.
