Job summary

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust invites applications for an Advanced Pharmacist Practitioner in Emergency Care at Walsall Manor Hospital. The role carries Band 8a, a fixed-term contract of 18 months, and requires independent prescribing qualifications with support for accreditation.

The post holder will deliver expert medicines management, provide clerk‑level and consultant advice, and lead service development in a fast-paced ED setting, with training and RPS curriculum accreditation.

Qualifications

• Strong organisational and communication skills for a developing service.
• Self-motivated and flexible in a busy emergency care setting.
• Registered Pharmacist with GPhC and minimum 2 years post-qualification.
• Hold or be working towards an independent prescribing qualification.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced practitioner service for patients in A&E.
• Provide specialist medicines advisory at ward and consultant level.
• Undertake complex medication reviews and contribute to MDT assessment.
• Participate in discharge planning and referrals via Discharge Medicines Service.
• Identify areas for service development with the Lead Pharmacist Emergency Care.
• Mentor junior pharmacists rotating through emergency care.
