Advanced Pharmacist – National Paediatric Stem Cell/ Cellular Therapy Service & Paediatric Haematology/Oncology

The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow hosts the Scottish National Paediatric Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT) and Cellular Therapy service, providing a framework of care to all children in Scotland living with rare conditions requiring HSCT. A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Pharmacy team based at the Royal Hospital for Children, working as an Advanced Practice Pharmacist specialising HSCT/Cellular Therapy and Paediatric Haematology/Oncology.

The Pharmacist role within the HSCT service is integral to the high level of care delivery outlined in the National Service specification. The Pharmacist is an essential member of the HSCT team, providing expert pharmaceutical input to this highly complex and high risk area. The role will work with key Stakeholders to implement and develop a wider Paediatric ATMP service for Scotland. The post holder will work collaboratively across NHS Scotland and the wider UK and EU to ensure maximum efficiency and robust governance in the implementation and ongoing delivery of paediatric HSCT and ATMP services. In addition, the post holder is an integral member of the wider Women and Children’s team at NHS GGC and will support in care delivery within the RHC, deputising for the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Women and Children’s.

The post holder will work within the wider Specialist Haematology/oncology service, providing highly specialist care to this vulnerable patient population. Ongoing involvement in research, QI and development is essential to the role.

You will need to be confident, enthusiastic and have a drive for personal-professional development. You must have excellent communication and leadership skills as there will be a requirement to actively participate in national MDTs and service reviews. Demonstrable experience of change management, and a desire to drive Pharmacy services forward in line with National strategy, is essential to the role.

You must have a Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. A postgraduate qualification and Independent Prescribing qualification is essential.

Working pattern is Monday to Friday with participation in weekend working, public holidays and on call.
