Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a forward-thinking Paediatric Physiotherapist to join the Children's Therapy Service at either Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford. The role focuses on outpatient musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and/or rheumatology care for children, with opportunities for inpatient and clinic support.

Job overview

We have a fixed term, part-time maternity leave cover post for a forward-thinking, supportive and friendly Paediatric Physiotherapists to be based either at Broomfield Hospital, working within the Children's Therapy Service.

You will be part of a well led, dynamic and friendly MSE wide team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants, who constantly strive for integrated working – optimising patient care and team morale. The team works together to achieve both positive patient experience and successful outcomes.

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for Physiotherapy and a desire to actively participate in all aspects of the role. They will lead an area of the outpatient musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and/or rheumatology physiotherapy service at their base site. The successful candidate must be an effective team player with excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to demonstrate evidence of recent professional learning.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the delivery of the musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and rheumatology aspect of the paediatric physiotherapy service. This includes potential for inpatients, outpatients and supporting work in clinics.

The role will use highly specialist skills to manage their own complex caseload, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team. They will act as a specialist resource for colleagues and the wider MDT in the management of children with musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and / or rheumatological conditions.

Person specification

Qualifications / experience

• HCPC registration
• Degree or other recognised qualification in Physiotherapy
• Evidence of post graduate learning relevant to the clinical field
• Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
• Evidence of relevant postgraduate training
• Member of Paediatric Clinical Interest Groups

Skills / knowledge

• Recognised level of expertise in assessment/treatment within the specialty
• Use of evidence-based practice
• Ability to pass on skills/ knowledge to others within formal and informal environments
• Good knowledge of current issues within the NHS and physiotherapy profession
• Experience supervising staff, students and assistants
• Clinical experience within a National Health Service setting or similar health setting.
• Relevant experience at band 6 level in paediatrics
• Development of protocols and guidelines
• Knowledge of service improvement techniques e.g. change management and compassionate leadership
