Job summary

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust seeks an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Clinical Research to provide high-level clinical autonomy for cancer patients, guiding them through trial participation and standard care within national guidelines. You will assess, counsel and consent patients, prescribe trial drugs, and monitor toxicities in collaboration with the research team.

Applicants should hold NMC registration with acute care and clinical research experience, and be committed to ongoing MSc

Qualifications

• First level NMC registration or equivalent degree.
• Post-registration experience in acute care and clinical research nursing.
• Willingness or delivery of MSc/Level 7 study and CPD commitments.
• Teaching qualification or experience is desirable.
• Non-medical prescribing or willingness to undertake.
• Evidence of continued professional development.

Responsibilities

• Act as key worker to cancer patients, ensuring continuity throughout their journey.
• Counsel patients and explain rationale for clinical trials and expectations.
• Consent patients to clinical trials per delegated authority and protocols.
• Prescribe trial drugs and supportive meds within approved scope.
• Assess treatment toxicities and grade per Common Toxicity Criteria.
• Demonstrate leadership and work autonomously within a team.
