Education, Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Educated to Registered Nurse Status equivalent level of education, training or experience
• Master's Degree/equivalent in relevant field
• Surgical Experience

Desirable criteria

• Management or leadership qualification
• Non-medical Prescriber
• Surgical First Assistant Qualification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

• Experience within an acute secondary care setting as band 6 or above
• Enthusiasm for learning and ongoing professional development
• Awareness and understanding of current issues within advanced practice and the NHS

Desirable criteria

• Experience working as a First Assistant within the theatre setting
• Experience of staff management

Skills

Essential criteria

• The ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and/or contentious information in complex situations
• The ability to communicate with patients and their family/carers during stressful or emotional circumstances
• The ability to foster a positive learning culture
• The ability to demonstrate accuracy in personal record keeping and adhere to information governance regulations regarding storage and sharing of data

If you need to have a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check, as a requirement of the role, you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check (£49.50) and this amount will be reclaimed from your first salary. From 1st February 2019 all new starters to the Trust are required to join the DBS update service as per Trust DBS Re-checking Policy which has an annual cost of £16. New employees who do not join the update service will be required to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in 3 years time.
