Waterside Primary Care Network's Urgent Care Centre is expanding its clinical team. The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will perform advanced-level assessments, set clinical standards, and liaise with across-network practices to ensure flexible daily coverage.

The role requires a postgrad qualification in advanced practice, nurse prescribing, and triage qualifications, with a minimum two years' experience in urgent care and strong clinical governance knowledge.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate diploma or degree in advanced practice is required.
• Qualified nurse prescriber is required.

• Registered nurse with current licence is required.
• Minimum two years' urgent and unscheduled care experience is required.

This Advanced Nurse Practitioner post sits within Waterside Primary Care Network's Urgent Care Centre, where the clinical team is expanding. The work centres on advanced-level assessment and care, with the postholder setting a clinical standard for colleagues in the department. It is distinct for its links across the network's practices, giving a changing mix of clinicians each day, and for hours of up to 37.5 a week. Applicants need at least two years' experience and nurse prescribing and triage qualifications.

Experience

Skills & knowledge

• Wound care and removal of sutures and staples
• ECGs and venepuncture
• New patient medicals and chaperone procedure
• Requesting pathology tests and advising patients on results
• Clinical management of diabetes, hypertension, asthma and CHD
• Evidence-based practice and broad knowledge of clinical governance

Other

• Working within own scope of practice and knowing when to refer to GPs
• Understanding of PGDs and associated policy
• Knowledge of local public health issues and health promotion strategies
• Accurate clinical record-keeping
• Working under pressure, with empathy and effective communication
