Job summary

Job description

Advanced Nurse Practitioner post at High Street Surgery, a two-partner training practice with a dispensing branch in Whitfield. The role centres on assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with undifferentiated, complex, minor and long-term conditions, working within the wider GP and nursing team. The post is 30 hours a week, Wednesday to Friday, in a practice that places strong emphasis on learning and mentorship. Applicants need an advanced clinical practice Masters or postgraduate diploma and independent prescribing.

What the job involves

• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients with undifferentiated diagnoses
• Examine patients and assess physical and psychological needs, then plan clinical care
• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment for patients with complex needs
• Assess, diagnose and treat minor illness, advising the wider MDT on best practice
• Identify and manage treatment plans for patients at risk of developing long-term conditions
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions using drug and non-drug treatment
• Demonstrate safe, competent clinical decision-making within scope of practice
• Show critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process
• Work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet patient needs
• Support delivery of practice policies and procedures
• Interpret, comment on and act on pathology, microbiology and radiology results
