Job summary

Stour Surgery in Christchurch, Dorset is recruiting an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our friendly team in a newly created, part-time role. The ANP will work closely with GPs and the nursing team to expand clinical services and improve access to care.

The successful candidate will hold an ANP qualification with independent prescribing, bring primary care experience, and be capable of autonomous assessment and management of conditions, including chronic disease care.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Nurse Practitioner and independent prescribing qualifications.
  • Experience in primary care/general practice.
  • Experience assessing and managing minor illness.
  • Excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently with appropriate referrals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced, specialist nursing care to patients as required in line with evidence and guidelines.
  • Provide autonomous assessment, diagnosis and treatment for acute and chronic conditions.
  • Independently prescribe medications and refer to specialists when needed.
  • Implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for chronic disease patients.
  • Identify and support patients at risk of long-term conditions and adverse effects.
  • Support and participate in shared learning within the organisation.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Stour Surgery

About the role

We are delighted to be recruiting for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our friendly and supportive team in this newly created position.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in expanding and developing our clinical services whilst improving access to timely patient care. The ANP will work closely with the GPs and nursing team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced, specialist nursing care to patients as required in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF
  • Provide autonomous assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients presenting with range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Independently prescribe appropriate medication, evaluate or refer to other specialists if necessary.
  • Implement and evaluate individual specialised treatment plans for chronic disease patients.
  • Identify, manage and support patients at risk of developing long-term conditions, preventing adverse effects to the patient’s health.
  • Support and participate in shared learning within the organisation.

This is a part-time position, and salary is negotiable depending on experience.

About you

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic ANP. You will ideally have:

  • Advanced Nurse Practitioner and independent prescribing qualifications
  • Experience of working within primary care/general practice
  • Experience of assessing and managing minor illness
  • Excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to work independently while recognising when referral to a GP or other service is appropriate
  • A collaborative and supportive approach to working as part of a multidisciplinary team
