Job summary

Recruit 12 is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes and automation projects in a world-class automotive environment.

You will drive supplier engagement, equipment selection and rigorous DFMA/APQP practices to ensure safe, cost-effective production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing environments.
  • Proven track record leading manufacturing equipment projects and process improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing CAPEX projects and manufacturing budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of new manufacturing processes, equipment concepts and automation projects from concept to production.
  • Specify, select and procure manufacturing equipment.
  • Act as technical lead for new equipment proposals and automation projects.
  • Develop and maintain equipment SORs, technical specs and documentation.
  • Work with SMEs to establish manufacturing standards and best practices.
  • Identify and manage equipment suppliers and perform capability assessments.

Our client is a global leader in advanced automotive manufacturing and engineering solutions, delivering innovative body, chassis and lightweight structural technologies to some of the world's leading vehicle manufacturers. They are seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes, supporting equipment design, automation projects and continuous improvement initiatives within a world-class manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development of new manufacturing processes, equipment solutions and automation projects from concept through to production. Working closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers and technical specialists, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and within agreed cost and timing targets.
  • Leading the development of new manufacturing processes and equipment concepts.
  • Supporting the specification, selection and procurement of manufacturing equipment.
  • Acting as the technical lead for new equipment proposals and automation projects.
  • Developing and maintaining equipment Statements of Requirements (SORs), technical specifications and documentation.
  • Working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to establish manufacturing standards and best practices.
  • Identifying and managing equipment suppliers, including capability assessments and technical reviews.
  • Supporting business quotations through equipment cost analysis and budget preparation.
  • Leading CAPEX projects, ensuring delivery within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Managing equipment installation projects and supplier activities.
  • Leading Machine FMEA and PFMEA activities for new equipment and processes.
  • Applying APQP, DFMA and lean manufacturing methodologies throughout projects.
Qualifications & Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Experience working within automotive manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience leading manufacturing equipment projects and process improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience leading FMEA activities, including PFMEA and equipment FMEA.
  • Understanding of APQP, DFMA and structured product development processes.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience managing CAPEX projects and manufacturing budgets.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
