Advanced Engineer (HGV Technician Level 3) Nights

Join Transport UK London Bus as an Advanced Engineer (HGV Technician Level 3) for night shifts. This role is based at Battersea Depot under the Engineering department.

Compensation: £28.28 / hour (night shift: £27.15/hr)

We are looking for innovative, self‑starting individuals with a passion for working in the dynamic bus industry. This position requires a shift pattern of 4 nights on and 4 nights off, with voluntary overtime available. 5‑day shifts are also available.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair and maintain buses.
• Investigate and diagnose mechanical and electronic faults.
• Record faults and repairs using a tablet.
• Follow safety instructions and report any issues.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 qualification for maintenance and repair of public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles (or equivalent international qualification).
• Or at least five years’ experience repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles, evidence required.
• Current IRTEC in service maintenance technician, inspection technician and advanced technician qualification preferred; training will be provided if not held.
• PCV licence desired but not essential; training to drive buses available.
• Good standard of Maths and English.
• Ability to read and understand instructions and service manuals.
• Experience with fleet management technical computer systems.
• Strong teamwork skills across colleagues and departments.
• Meeting deadlines and flexibility for varying depot or shift requirements.
• Openness to additional training as requested by the service manager.
• Proactive initiative and independence in work.
