Job summary

Sora Aviation, based in Bristol, is seeking an experienced design engineer to design the composite airframe for the S-1. You will lead detailed design and CAD modelling for primary and secondary structures and support tooling, manufacturing and integration of systems on the airframe.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, knowledge of composite design and tooling, and strong CAD skills (3DEXPERIENCE). On-site in Bristol with a focus on innovative structural solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of composite part design principles, tooling and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to apply inventive thinking to solve complex structural design challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed design and CAD modelling of primary and secondary airframe structures.
• Support tooling and manufacturing design of prototype components for flight test aircraft.
• Support integration of mechanical, electrical and thermal systems onto the S-1 airframe.
• Support design of other airframe assemblies such as landing gear and nacelles.

What You'll Do

• Lead the detailed design and CAD modelling of the primary and secondary structures for the S-1
• Support the tooling and manufacturing design of prototype components for a flight test aircraft
• Support the integration of mechanical, electrical and thermal systems onto the S-1 airframe
• Support the design of other airframe assemblies such as landing gear and nacelles

Who You Are

• Degree in Mechanical/ Aerospace Engineering or other relevant field
• Knowledge of composite part design principles, composite tooling and manufacturing processes
• Ability to apply inventive thinking to solve complex structural design challenges
• Proficient in CAD (preferably 3DExperience) including sketching, surfacing, 2D drawing and 3D modelling with appropriate GD&T
