Job summary

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust seeks a skilled nurse to advance the diagnostic pathway for colorectal cancer and contribute to the USC pathway in Torquay. You will work with colorectal surgeons, deliver specialist nursing care, and run nurse-led clinics to ensure patients stay on the correct pathway in a supportive, autonomous role.

The role includes education, training, audits and involvement in research projects within a busy colorectal service.

Qualifications

Good knowledge of colorectal disease and investigations.

Responsibilities

Work with colorectal surgeons to assess and investigate patients on the urgent suspected cancer pathway.
Provide highly specialised nursing care for patients with potential colorectal or anal cancer.
Independently run nurse-led services, face-to-face or via telephone clinics, ensuring correct pathways with support from the lead surgeon.
Provide psychological support to patients and their families.
Work unsupervised within your expertise and with clinical autonomy (including ordering investigations).
Assist in service development, through consultation, intervention, complex communication, aftercare, education, training and team building.
Provide specialist education and training to staff, patients and carers.
Lead in clinical audits and participate in relevant research studies.
