Job description

We are looking for a qualified, experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our established team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners in the Urgent Treatment Centre, located within the Emergency Department at Colchester Hospital. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across the four pillars of advanced practice: education, clinical practice, leadership, and research.

The Urgent Treatment Centre operates from 0700 to Midnight, seven days a week, including weekends and Bank Holidays. The successful candidate will be required to work shifts covering these hours.

The post involves leading a dedicated team across all areas of the Urgent Treatment Centre to ensure patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed illnesses and injuries receive prompt and timely intervention. The candidate will also be responsible for leading and supporting a team of experienced and developing Practitioners.

Clinical and leadership support will be provided by the Clinical Lead Nurse and GP. If you are passionate about patient care and eager to develop your skills and knowledge, we would like to hear from you.

Ideally, you will have clinical experience in urgent unscheduled care. The role requires working as an autonomous practitioner to assess, examine, investigate, and treat patients with undifferentiated conditions at an advanced level. Collaboration with senior clinical leads, medical personnel, and the wider multidisciplinary team is essential, and the ACP is accountable for the entire episode of care.

You will be part of the senior clinical team, covering roles such as coordinator, navigation, and Care at the Door at the Front Door. You will contribute to service development and provide leadership to your designated team, maintaining clinical excellence and supporting high-quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.

You will promote evidence-based practice, clinical audit, and research within the department. The successful candidate will be motivated and committed to providing a high standard of safe, quality care while maintaining a senior presence in the department. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview and to deliver a presentation; details will be provided.
