The Scottish Government’s ‘Women’s Health Plan (2021)’ aims to address women’s health needs across Scotland, focusing on reducing health inequalities and key areas such as reproductive health, menopause, and abortion services.
Alongside ‘Best Start,’ a five-year plan for maternity and neonatal care, this is an exciting time to develop a career in Women’s health services.
The Pharmacist role in Women’s health is evolving, offering many opportunities for practice development. Pharmacists play a vital role in managing new therapies and supporting person-centered care through quality improvement initiatives.
NHS GGC leads in Women’s health strategy. This role provides pharmacy leadership across NHS GGC, supporting the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Women and Children’s Services. The post holder will deputize for the Lead Pharmacist and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop future pharmacy services for Women’s health. Additionally, the role includes providing clinical services to Level 2 neonatal units and leading at the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital.
Candidates should be confident, enthusiastic, and committed to professional growth, with excellent communication and leadership skills. Experience in change management and a drive to advance pharmacy services aligned with national strategies are essential.
Qualifications required include a Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and postgraduate and Independent Prescribing qualifications.
The working pattern is Monday to Friday, with participation in weekends, public holidays, and on-call duties.
