Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 4 clinical coder to join its large coding service. The role focuses on accurate coding across specialties using ICD-10 and OPCS-4, with mentoring of junior coders in a hybrid working environment.

You will interpret clinical documentation, resolve coding queries and contribute to audits and service improvement while meeting productivity targets and national standards.

Qualifications

• GCSE grades A to C or equivalent.
• ACC or proven equivalent level of knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Code patient records accurately using ICD-10 and OPCS-4 to national standards
• Deliver coding within agreed productivity levels and turnaround times
• Interpret clinical documentation and resolve coding queries
• Take part in audit, quality assurance and service improvement work
• Keep up to date with national coding standards and guidance
• Work with colleagues to meet departmental objectives and performance targets
