Job summary

Barnsley Hospital's Blood Sciences - Blood Transfusion department is seeking a substantive Band 7 Advanced Biomedical Scientist to lead the operational management of the blood bank laboratory and ensure a high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic service.

The post holder will work with the Blood Transfusion Manager to support service delivery across the SYB Pathology network, supervise BMS grades, coordinate daily work, and participate in a 24/7 rota across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Registered Biomedical Scientist with Band 7 level experience in pathology.
• Experience in quality management and clinical governance within blood services.
• Experience supervising BMS grades and coordinating laboratory sections.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational management of the blood bank laboratory to ensure high-quality service.
• Supervise Registered BMS, Trainee BMS and Biomedical Science Assistants and report progress.
• Monitor attendance, allocate annual leave and participate in 24/7 rota across sites.
