Job summary

GSL Education Hull seeks an Advanced Teaching Assistant to deliver high-quality classroom support in secondary schools around Selby. Work available as day-to-day supply, long-term placements, or permanent opportunities.

You will lead targeted interventions, support students with SEND, assist lesson delivery, and help create an inclusive learning environment. A TA qualification or substantial secondary experience is required; an Enhanced DBS (Update Service) is preferred.

Qualifications

  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or significant experience in a secondary school.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND or additional learning needs desirable.
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proactive, patient and adaptable approach to supporting young people.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality classroom support and deliver targeted interventions for individuals and small groups.
  • Support students with SEND or additional learning needs to access the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation and the delivery of engaging learning activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence and confidence through effective support strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide accurate feedback to teaching staff to support learning outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams and parents or carers to promote student wellbeing and achievement.

Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull branch are currently seeking proactive and enthusiastic Advanced Teaching Assistants to work in secondary schools across Selby and the surrounding areas. As an Advanced Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, working closely with teachers to deliver targeted interventions and provide additional support for students with a range of learning needs.
