Job summary

Leicester City Council is seeking suitably qualified adult tutors to join our thriving team. You will deliver both face-to-face and online courses to adult learners across the city, using a blended approach to learning.

You will travel to various settings and may work outside normal hours to reach a broad range of learners. We value experienced tutors who can design engaging lessons, ensure access to learning and promote achievement and progression.

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification at Level 3 or higher, with commitment to progress to Level 5.
• English and Maths qualifications at GCSE or equivalent.
• Experience of working with adults and children in a school setting.
• Proficient IT skills and ability to use Google Classroom and Meet.

Leicester Adult Education offer a large and diverse programme of further education qualification courses as well as extensive community-based provision. We have a diverse, enthusiastic student community, taught and supported by well-qualified staff. Supporting Teaching and Learning qualifications are a vital aspect of today's world of work. Our provision in this area is expanding, and we need qualified tutors with the passion and motivation to help us move forward and provide the best learning experience possible for our adult learners across the city.

This is a fantastic opportunity for suitably qualified, dedicated, and skilled adult tutors to join our successful team. As an inspirational and motivated adult tutor, you'll provide a high-quality learning experience that promotes achievement and learner progression. The hours of work are up to 6 hours per week and you'll be mainly based at Adult Education College or teaching online as part of our blended learning approach. However, you'll also be able to travel to a variety of settings across the city and will be required work outside of normal office hours to provide learning opportunities to a broad range of groups.

What you'll be doing

As an experienced tutor, you'll prepare and deliver face-to-face and on-line courses to adult learners, ensuring that learning is properly structured, reflects current good practice and that assessment is robust to meet the demands of quality assurance. You'll evaluate and provide continuous improvement to your teaching practice and have in place strategies that ensure maximum attendance, retention and achievement. You'll select appropriate resources, as well as use teaching methods and styles which promote active learning, to ensure that learners achieve their full potential in their learning journey.

What you'll need

You'll have excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills. Using your expertise and creativity, you'll be able to identify individual learning needs to design and plan lessons accordingly, ensuring successful outcomes for learners are achieved. You'll have the necessary knowledge and proficient IT skills to use relevant software packages and ILT to teach both in the classroom and online using Google Classroom and Meet.

In addition, you will have the required qualifications which include: a teaching qualification at minimum Level 3, with a commitment to work towards a Level 5, and English and Maths qualifications at GCSE or equivalent.

You will have experience of working in a school setting. You will also need to be qualified to at least Level 3 STL or Early Years and have experience of working with adults and children.
