Job summary

Jobtailor in Scotland is seeking an enthusiastic Adult Literacy Tutor to deliver and assess learning for adult learners, families, and young people in a group setting. You will plan and adapt learning plans, support learners with diverse needs and work across local communities.

A Higher National Diploma or equivalent is required, along with experience delivering adult literacies and online delivery. PVG membership will be required; occasional evening sessions and travel between venues are

Qualifications

• Experience delivering adult literacies programmes with adult learners, young people and families using a social practice approach.
• Awareness and knowledge of supporting learners with a range of additional support needs.
• Experience delivering and assessing accredited learning up to SCQF Level 4 and/or willingness to work towards an assessor/internal verifier qualification.
• Ability to travel between venues to deliver learning in local communities.
• Availability for some evening work and PVG scheme membership.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of the Adult Basic Education (ABE) team and deliver in group settings.
• Plan, deliver and assess learners’ needs using a range of strategies.
• Overcome barriers and agree appropriate learning plans with learners.
• Manage learning according to individual needs and aspirations.
• Identify factors affecting literacy acquisition and address learning difficulties through a social practice model.
• Collaborate with staff, volunteers, communities, partners and colleagues.
