Job summary

Barnsley Council is seeking an Adoption Social Worker to join One Adoption South Yorkshire. The role will be based in Barnsley but will require travel across the region and potential work in other disciplines within the wider team.

You will be a qualified and registered Social Worker, assessing adopters, children and birth families, and developing adoption support plans. You’ll work in a supportive team with a duty service and opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Qualified and registered Social Worker.
• Ability to assess adopters, children and birth families for adoption support services.
• Ability to develop adoption support plans and review them regularly.
• Able to undertake direct work and group work with adoptive parents, children and young people.
• Team player who can also work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Assess adopters, children and birth families where there is a request for adoption support services.
• Develop and review adoption support plans in collaboration with relevant services.
• Undertake direct work and group work with adoptive parents, children and young people.
• Provide advice, support and guidance through our duty service to families, adopted adults and birth families.
