Job summary

Barnsley Council is recruiting an Adoption Social Worker within One Adoption South Yorkshire. Based in Barnsley and working regionally, you will assess adopters, children and birth families, develop adoption support plans and deliver group work.

The role requires teamwork, initiative and strong English communication, with travel across the region as needed. The post is permanent, 29.6 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements and a strong focus on continuous professional development.

Qualifications

• Qualified and registered Social Worker.
• Ability to assess adopters, children and birth families.
• Ability to develop and review adoption support plans.

Responsibilities

• Assess adopters, children and birth families where adoption support is requested.
• Develop and regularly review adoption support plans with partners.
• Undertake direct work and groups with adoptive parents, children and young people.
• Contribute to a duty service providing advice and guidance to families and adopted individuals.
