Job summary

Barclays in Glasgow or Knutsford is seeking an Adoption Software Engineer to help modernize our digital estate. You’ll design and deliver secure, scalable software using Java, AWS, and policy-as-code to define permission models and access controls.

Work with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate complex security requirements into tangible software, participate in code reviews, stay abreast of cloud and security trends, and champion secure coding and robust unit testing

Qualifications

• Experience defining permission roles using policy as code.
• Familiarity with security models RBAC, ABAC and ReBAC.
• Strong Java development skills and BDD testing basics.
• Knowledge of AWS and cloud-based security concepts.
• Understanding of Policy as Code and IAM solutions.

Salary: £60,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience with Permissions and Profiles, utilizing policy as code to define permission roles, and familiarity with security models such as Relationship-Based Access Control (ReBAC), Attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC), and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
• Proficiency in Java, BDD testing concepts, and familiarity with Public Cloud solutions, specifically AWS.
• Understanding of authorization and authentication technologies such as Policy as Code and Identity Access Management (IAM) solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and enhance software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and performance-optimized.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to define software requirements and create solutions that align with business objectives.
